Students of the Taraba State University have had to shelve their desire to write their examination which commences today following the boycott by lecturers over unpaid salaries.
Aggrieved students have soon stormed the streets to express their dissatisfaction with the situation.
The students in protesting the development blocked all roads leading to the institution, hindering vehicular movements around the axis. They also burnt tyres and chanted solidarity songs.
Business activities were also brought to a halt.
The student leader in the University, Salisu Waziri disclosed that the demonstration was in solidarity with lecturers who have not been paid 10 months’ salaries.
He further called on school authorities and the state government to ensure payment of lecturers’ salaries to allow for the conduct of their examination.
