The federal government has asked religious leaders to assist reform the country’s hospitals in order to enhance the country’s healthcare system.
Engr. Adebiyi Olufunsho, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, made this request on Tuesday at the commissioning of new hemodialysis machines and other equipment donated to the Federal Medical Centre by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Abuja.
Olufunsho stated that missionary hospitals were formerly among the largest in the country, and that restructuring will help relieve the strain on public hospitals.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to urge our religious leaders to return to those ancient religions and reconsider the construction of hospitals that are affordable to the average Nigerian.”
“I appeal to our wealthy Nigerians and rich men to come to the aid of our health centers.” The population is massive. The government is making an effort, but the population is immense.”
