Oyo State Flags-off Lassa Fever Week

The Oyo State Ministry of Health has flagged-off Oyo State Lassa Fever week 2023 at Emergency Operation Center (EOC) Conference Hall, Yemetu, Ibadan on Thursday.

In his flag-off speech, the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Olabode Taiwo noted that this is a better time to start the campaign considering the recent rise in the spate of Lassa fever outbreaks across the country and the resurgence of Diphtheria in some states.

He further explained that Oyo state had had her fair share of challenges of the marauding threats of the two epidemic-prone diseases; Lassa fever and diphtheria although the state has not recorded any case of diphtheria.

In attendance were crucial partners like Breakthrough Action, WHO, UNICEF, APINS, and IVHN amongst others.

Stakeholders at the event commended the Oyo State government for its efforts in promoting healthy living amongst citizens in the state.
