The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for laying the foundation for the upgrade of Alakia Airport, Ibadan otherwise called Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan to international standard.
The Speaker described the project as one that will drive economic growth, development and prosperity for the pacesetter State.
The Speaker said this on Wednesday in Ibadan shortly after Governor Seyi Makinde performed the official groundbreaking ceremony for the upgrade of the airport to international standard.
Hon. Ogundoyin said the potential economic benefits that the initiative will bring to Oyo State are enormous and diverse.
According to the Speaker, Governor Seyi Makinde has set another unprecedented record of achievement in his developmental strides in the State.
“This is another significant milestone achievement for our dear Governor. This is a catalyst for economic development. The upgrade will transform Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan into a hub for commerce and connectivity, creating jobs and attracting businesses and investors to our State. I am happy that this will ensure direct international flights, attract more airlines, passengers and cargos and ultimately increase revenue and boost local economies. The expansion would also help generate employment opportunities for the citizens.”
The Speaker said when fully completed and upgraded, the Airport would become a hub for regional development, reduce pressure on Lagos Airport among other benefits.
Hon. Ogundoyin commended Governor Makinde’s commitment to development, stating that this achievement solidifies his position as a purposeful leader with long-term plans for the state
” With this upgrade, our darling Governor has again etched his name in the annal of Oyo State as a development friendly and a purposeful leader who has long term plans for the State.”
