INEC accredits 1.5m party agents, deploys 146,913 observers

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday released a list of 1,500,000 Party Agents registered by 18 Political Parties in 176, 974 Polling Units for the 2023 general elections slated for February 25 and March 11, respectively.

The statistics of agents from the major parties show Obi’s LP (Obi) has 134,874 Agents, ADC (Obi) has 96,034, Atiku’s PDP has 176,974 Agents, Tinubu’s APC has 176,974 Agents and the other 14 Parties have altogether 1,081,358.

The Tribune reports that ADC endorsed Peter Obi as their candidate, which makes up to 230, 908 agents working for the LP’s presidential candidate.

In a related development, a total of 146,913 domestic and international observers will be deployed for the 2023 general election.

This was made known by the Chairman of, the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, at the INEC briefing for observers of the 2023 general election in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to the INEC chairman, the number of observers is the largest in the history of the country.

The commission accredited 196 national and domestic organizations that deployed 144,800 observers and 33 international organizations that deployed 2,113 observers.
