Guinness World Record confirms Nigerian pupil as holder for most skips on one foot

Philip Solomon, a 17-year-old student from Oyemekun Grammar School in Akure, Ondo State, has been recognized as the holder of the Guinness World Record for the most skips on one foot in 30 seconds.

On January 24, Solomon officially broke Rasel Islam of Bangladesh’s previous record of 145 skips in a minute. Solomon accomplished 153 skips in a minute on one foot.

Four months after his effort, his record was formally recognized by Guinness World Records on Tuesday.

“Solomon was inspired by the previous holder of this record title Rasel Islam after seeing a video of his record attempt. He has been training to achieve the record and was honoured to attend a skipping world championship,” Guinness World Record announced on its website.

Solomon has joined Gbenga Ezekiel of Ijapo High School in Akure, who was announced as the world record holder in February for the most skips on one leg in one minute with 265 skips, bringing the total number of rope skipping Guinness World Records held by Nigeria to two.

The three students from the senior secondary school added that Gbenga Ezekiel’s achievement earlier this year served as inspiration.
