Ebonyi Government denies alleged plan to bribe Election tribunal with N1bn

The Ebonyi State Government said on Sunday that it has absolutely no intention of paying off the election petition tribunal judges in an effort to taint the course of justice and win their undue favor.

The state government made this known through the Commissioner of Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, in response to an allegation made by Paschal Oluchukwu, president of the Association of Ebonyi Indigenes Socio-Cultural in Diaspora (AEISCID).

Okpor urged Oluchukwu not to be used by desperate politicians who were rejected by the people of the state during the state’s last governorship election.

He stated that Governor Nwifuru has no reason to be concerned about the outcome of the election tribunal proceedings because he was massively elected by the good people of Ebonyi State alongside other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ebonyi State, he claims, has “never planned to bribe, either directly or indirectly, any member of the judiciary or its representative to sway the course of justice.”

Okpor noted further that Gov Nwifuru is aware that the tribunal is comprised of judges of integrity and impeccable character who can never stoop so low as to demand or accept any form of financial gratification from anyone or a group of people.
