Buhari to inaugurate seven legacy projects ahead of May 29

President Muhammadu Buhari will inaugurate seven “legacy” projects completed by the federal ministry of Works and Housing across the country on Tuesday.

In a statement on Monday, the president’s media advisor Femi Adesina reaffirmed this.

The initiatives, according to the statement, were consistent with the Buhari administration’s resolve to modernize and increase the nation’s infrastructure stock.

The projects included a road, three federal secretariats, and three significant bridges, according to the announcement.

The inauguration will be headlined by the Second Niger Bridge which began in 2005.

According to the statement, an effort was made in 2014 to launch the project through a public-private collaboration, but it was unsuccessful.

But it also showed that the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF), which was used to fund the construction, had started the project in 2016.

The Loko-Oweto Bridge over the River Benue, which connects Benue to Nasarawa, and the Ikom Bridge in Cross River were among the other projects that the president would dedicate. The road project includes three new federal secretariats in addition to the 200 km completed portion of the Kano-Kaduna dual carriage expressway.

It was revealed that the federal secretariat was situated in the Anambra state town of Awka, in the Executive Business District Layout. On December 9, 2011, the project received its initial award. On July 14, 2022, it was finished and turned over to the Ministry of Construction and Housing.

The federal secretariat is also present in Gusau, Zamfara, in Unguwan Dan Lawan, which is accessible by the Sokoto Bypass. On November 30, 2022, the ministry finished and assumed control.

The federal secretariat in Yenagoa, Bayelsa, which was granted on December 9, 2011, and finished on November 30, 2022, is the third secretariat to be inaugurated. It is situated at Alamieyeseigha Road.

The federal secretariat in Lafia, Nasarawa, near Bukar Sidi along Jos Road, was opened by Mr. Buhari in February.
