A’Court Reserves Decision on Adeleke’s Dispute Against Sack

The Court of Appeal on Monday in Abuja postponed making a decision in the appeal Senator Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, made against the court’s decision to remove him from office.

Shortly after attorneys for the parties submitted and presented their briefs in favor of and against the lawsuit, Justice M.F. Shuaibu, who presided over a three-member panel of the appeal court, delivered the announcement.

Adeleke, represented by Chief Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), argued that the appellate court should overturn the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s decision to declare his victory in the previous election invalid due to legal errors, Chief Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), who represented the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Chief Gboyega Oyetola, made the opposite case.

At the end of the arguments however, Justice Shuaibu announced before the court that judgment would be delivered on a date that would be communicated to parties.

While Adeleke is the appellant in the appeal: marked CA/AK/EPT/GOV/01/2023, Oyetola, APC, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are the first to fourth respondents respectively.
