1999 Constitution Amendment: Oyo Assembly Approves Fifth Alteration Bills

The Oyo state House of Assembly under the leadership of Hon. Debo Ogundoyin has approved the fifth alteration bills in the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

The approval for the fifth alteration is part of the ongoing constitution amendment exercise being carried out by states houses of assembly across the 36 states of the federation.

The approved alteration bills in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria include the NASS/CNA/20/VOL.I/30 dated 28th March, 2022 as sponsored by the majority leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin and items in the approved bills include naming local government as a tier of government, renaming of Egbado North as Egbado South, age for judiciary officers retirement, removal of electricity, chieftaincy and railway from the exclusive list and basic education a fundamental right for all citizens and governance towards food security.

Similarly, the House received four (4) Bills from the Executive governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde titled ” Need to establish Oyo state Bureau of physical and development planning Commission Bill”, ” Need to amend Haulage Bill,2023″, “Oyo state building control Agency Bill 2023″, ” Destruction of public property Prohibition Bill 2023″ and ” Oyo State Energy Regulatory Commission Bill 2023″,all of which were transmitted for first reading.

The House adjourned its sitting to Tuesday 21st March, 2023.
